What are we doing?

Muso.AI is an AI-enabled music professional platform that helps artists showcase their portfolio, manage their music projects, and track the stream of created songs. Additionally, users can browse through the rich catalog of tracks, albums, artists, and music professionals.

Muso.AI was founded by CEO and Award-Winning Producer and Mix Engineer Jay Baumgardner, Kyran de Keijzer and Aaron Kaufman, in 2017. The company started out of NRG Recording Studios in North Hollywood, to solve the credit issue for our colleagues, friends and customers.

Why are we doing this?

Through the years of working at NRG, we've seen friends, family and colleagues miss out on Grammys and career opportunities. Their names were not listed on the credits for albums and thus they could not prove their participation in the track. Even decades into the digital age, outdated systems and antiquated crediting procedures (email chains and pen-and-paper logs among them) continue to prevent musicians, songwriters, producers, and other contributors from properly getting recognized and paid.

We're fixing the industry's music credits problem by verifying the data with creators themselves so they can receive the credits and missing payments they deserve.

How are we as a company different from others? Why is it worth going to us?

The main interest for this role is to manage and scale our data ingestion. Muso.AI is a big master data management project. We are merging catalog sources, credit sources, and analytical sources to create the richest metadata system in the music industry.

Data clients, such as Deezer and Amazon Music are lined up to consume our data, which much more to come.

We are looking for a highly skilled engineer to take ownership of the data lake/warehouse quality and scalability to be able to service Enterprise customers.

Current dataset:

  • Billions of rows
  • 60 000 000 tracks 
  • 10 000 000 albums
  • 5 000 000 artists
  • 4 000 000 profiles (producers, engineers)

We need to build a big engine that works on the backend, calculates the relations between different data sources, and manages layers for clients to interact with. 

Minimum qualifications:

This role will require strong DevOps/DataOps and Data Engineer (Data lakes/Warehousing) experience and the ability to manage and direct the development team to build out and maintain the world’s largest music credit database. The role will grow into a CTO as we scale our team-up.

Required Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in software development
  • 2-3 years of experience in leading a team of 2 or more engineers
  • excellent understanding of the architecture of big data systems

Why was the position opened?

We are just about to enter a growth phase in the business which means we’re aggressively increasing our headcounts primarily across engineering and departments. And we need to have someone on our leadership team to help scale the team with upcoming investments.

Team size and structure?

Development team: 4 backend engineers, 1 mobile engineer, 1 frontend engineer.
